What is a Periodontics?

Periodontics is a branch of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and conditions that affect the supporting structures of the teeth, including the gums (gingiva), the jawbone, and the periodontal ligament. These supporting structures are collectively referred to as the periodontium.
